In late December, Ronzilla and his wife made a trek to Hollywood
to attend pal Rikki Rockett’s “Senseless Acts
of Kustom Kulture” Pinstriping Art Exhibition at The
Original Von Dutch Store on Melrose. “The show was very
cool and very unique” Ron comments, “What I bring
to the table is unique, fully executed ideas on uncommon surfaces”
explains Rikki. Zilla who is also an accomplished artist who’s
had his work on exhibition in New York was very impressed
with Rikki’s skills, creativity and ability having only
been pinstriping less than a year. Below you’ll find
some pix from the exhibition as well as a shot of Ron with
one of his favorites from the show, “Hot Rod Frankie”
which was a mixed media piece utilizing a 16” Tom Drum.
Another Zilla favorite was “Frankincrapper”...you
have to see it for the name to make sense. The next day on
Christmas Eve, Ron and his wife caught a ‘red-eye’
home to arrive Christmas morning around 10:00 A.M. in time
to celebrate the holidays with his family. “Upon our
return Christmas morning, we hit our bed to crash for an hour
or two before the Annual Campbell Christmas Festivities (having
not slept on the bumpy plain ride home)” Ron shares,
“While sleeping my wife rolled over and whispered something
in my ear about taking a test...which I didn’t pay attention
to and fell quickly back asleep. After a while I heard her
moving about downstairs so I decided it was now 1:00 and I
ought to get up since my parents were starting their Christmas
event at 2:00. While standing there looking in the mirror
(remember this is Christmas morning)...my wife walked upstairs
and said ‘Are you ready to be a Daddy?!!!’ That’s
right...Zilla’s gonna be a Daddy!!! A Baby Zealot is
on the way and we’re so very excited that God would
bless us this way...what a Christmas Gift! Our baby is due
August 29th and we’re already through the first trimester
and we’ve already heard it’s heartbeat! Below
is also a photo of the first sonogram...so now we finally
get to put a face with our baby’s heartbeat...we’re
so excited! ”Keep us in prayer...We’ll keep you
posted!”
